So, I've had this account for going on 8 years now and this is the first posting I've made. Procrastinate much?
sunnybananas pointed out that my LJ presence was virtually nonexistent, so I figure I owe it to her at least to remedy that.
So here I go with our show already in progress...
I got the tickets for Natalie and I to fly down to Arkansas a couple of days ago. 65,000 flight miles got used, but we only have to pay for the Fairbanks-to-Seattle leg of the journey. From Seattle to Memphis, then the return of Memphis to Fairbanks is free. Including the car rental for the week we're down there, it'll end up costing right about the same as one roundtrip ticket without the airmiles discounts, roughly $1000 or so.
I wish we had more time for the trip, but it just isn't in the cards. Natalie hasn't seen her grandma or great-grandma since we moved back to Alaska in 2006 (when she was 16 months old) so this will be a treat for her. Plus, it's the first time she's been old enough to remember flying on a plane. I know, what am I thinking taking a 4 year old on several 3+ hour flights in a row on one day? Guess I'm a glutton for punishment.
Hopefully she'll enjoy it or at least endure it without too much drama. I've got my fingers crossed.
We're gonna try and see everybody that we can, but I just know someone is gonna get missed. That's just how my luck goes.
While we're there, we're also having a mini class reunion of sorts. I missed the 10 year because I had just moved back to Arkansas after my time in the Air Force and didn't know one was being held. But this is in time for the 15th anniversary so those of us who are in the general area are getting together for a BBQ or something. At least, that's the plan. We'll see.
